The Christopher Shoemaker Christian Centre (Shoemakers) was always more than a bookshop; it is a haven where souls are nurtured, minds are enlightened, and spirits are uplifted. Embracing the beauty of Christian literature and the power of community.

Shoemakers has been  a Christian presence in Newbury town centre for over 20 years. Our aim continues to be to serve the community and provide a place for people to explore faith.

The bookshop and coffeeshop opened in January 2004. Due to COVID and other pressures, the coffeeshop closed in March 2020 and the bookshop will be closing in March 2024. However, Shoemakers has always been more than a bookshop and café, and we are seeking new ways to serve the community in and around Newbury.
